Guide to the consultation

Online medical consultation in English or Portuguese

If you have never seen a doctor by video call, here is what usually raises questions: how it works, how to book, what to have ready, and what an online consultation cannot do.

How it works

The consultation happens by video call, at the time we schedule. You get the link beforehand and join from wherever you are, on your phone or your computer.

I start by confirming your details and checking that the connection is good. Then we talk: you tell me what is going on, I ask what I need to ask, and we go through any test results and documents you have, together.

At the end I explain what I am suggesting and why, and leave room for your questions. You leave knowing the plan.

Portuguese and English

I see patients by telemedicine in Portuguese or in English, whichever feels more comfortable to you. Just say so when you book, or at the start of the consultation.

If you are outside Brazil, let me know which country when you book, so we can check whether a consultation is possible in your case.

Limits of online consultations

A video call cannot cover everything. When a case calls for a physical examination, a measurement or a procedure, care has to happen in person, and I will tell you so during the consultation.

Prescriptions, medical certificates, test requests and reports are issued when there is a clinical indication. Booking does not guarantee a document: the document follows from what the consultation shows.

And none of this is an emergency channel, not the website, not WhatsApp, not a scheduled consultation. In a situation of immediate risk, go to the nearest emergency service or call your local emergency number.

How to book

Booking is done in the online calendar: you pick a day and time from the available slots. If you already know which language you prefer, English or Portuguese, just say so.

If you would rather talk first, or have a question, message me on WhatsApp. We can arrange a time there as well.

Either way, you receive the video call link before the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How does an online medical consultation work?
It is a video call at the scheduled time. You join through the link from wherever you are, and we talk in real time, just as we would in the office.
How do I book?
In the online calendar, by picking a day and time, or on WhatsApp if you would rather talk first. Either way, you receive the video call link before the consultation.
Can the consultation be in English?
Yes. I see patients in Portuguese or in English; just say so when you book. If you are outside Brazil, let me know which country so we can check whether a consultation is possible.
What do I need to have ready before the consultation?
A photo ID, your notes, any test results or reports you have, and a list of what you take now. If something is missing, we sort it out during the call.
Does an online consultation guarantee a prescription, medical certificate or test request?
No. A document is issued when there is a clinical indication, based on what the consultation shows.
Can every situation be handled by video call?
No. When a case needs a physical examination or in-person care, I say so during the consultation and point you in the right direction.

How to prepare

You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. But if you can jot a few things down beforehand, it helps: the main reason you are coming, what changed and when it started, and the questions you do not want to forget in the moment. A short list, in order of time, is enough.

Before your appointment, test your camera, microphone and volume, and keep your device charged or plugged in. Have the video call link within reach.

Documents, tests and medications

Keep a photo ID nearby and, if you have them, test results, reports, prescriptions or previous guidance. Check that they are legible and that the date shows.

Make a list of what you take now: name, dose, times and how you are actually using it. Include vitamins, supplements and anything you take regularly, because it counts.

And do not change a dose or stop anything just to prepare for the consultation. We decide that together, in the conversation.

Setting and privacy

Pick a corner where you can speak freely. If other people are around, headphones usually do the job.

An online consultation carries the same confidentiality as an in-person one. What is needed for your care is kept in your medical record, under the same confidentiality. On your side, use a device you trust, do not forward the link, and check who you are sending documents to. If someone is with you on the call, let me know at the start.

Questions? Message me on WhatsApp. To book directly, use the online calendar.
